You are allowed to represent yourself, however if you choose to do so, the Court will hold you to the same high standard as they do attorneys. Even if you believe you have a "winning" case, rules of evidence and procedure may prevent you from presenting key parts of your case. These rules are not intended to prevent you from succeeding without an attorney, but rather to ensure that both sides have an impartial and level playing field before the court. A lawyer can not only explain the law, but also help you develop a strategy to make sure that you can present the best case to the court.
