James D. Higginbottom

Higginbottom Law founder James D. Higginbottom, recognizes that legal difficulties can be a major source of emotional and mental stress for his clients in their everyday lives. He believes the best way to address those issues is to provide his clients with knowledge of the law and a strategy to help his clients reach their goals, maintain their priorities and make the best decisions during difficult times.

James focuses his practice on all family law matters, such as divorce, custody and support issues. His experience in both state and federal courts allows him to provide his clients with the best representation possible.

In addition to the clients he serves at the firm, he also acts as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem for children in matters relating to custody, paternity and foster care cases. He is an active member of the Newport News Bar Association, and a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.

James is also active in the community. He is a member of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and he serves on the National Advisory Board of the James Monroe Memorial Foundation, and is actively involved with Bremond Lodge #241 AF&AM, Warwick Royal Arch Chapter #80 and the Newport News Scottish Rite.

Whether he is spending time with his clients or others in the community, you will find that James treats everyone with respect and integrity.
